2008 Haitian Holidays Celebrations : One of the things we at Hosean try to do each year is host an outreach to the area children. Pictured in this album are activities associated with the holidays here in Haiti. Two stateside churches, Meadow Springs Community Church of Shakopee, Minnesota and Grace Immanuel Bible Church, Jupiter, FL graciously sent down gift boxes for 300 children as well as clothing made by church women to give away. Enjoy sharing in the celebrations with us!

Kid's Summer Camp 2008 : Hosean International hosts outreaches each summer in north-central Haiti, outside the town of Pignon. (www.hosean.org) We just finished our first summer camp for children ages 6-12 at our retreat center of Camp de la Grace. Over 150 children attended from all area churches. The camp was funded by First and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Springfield, MO. Also, a visiting team from High Springs Baptist of High Springs, FL assisted with crafts of pillows, and other arts and crafts! We hope and pray our other scheduled camps for children and teens go as well in the month of August!

Haiti Hurricanes 2008 : Images of the devastation following four hurricanes in two weeks over Haiti. Also of the relief efforts started by Hosean International. Please go to www.hosean.org to donate. Women's Training Conferences : Fifteen years ago area women asked Hosean's leadership if we could help them start a women's outreach. The vision was to help the area women work together in non-denominational groups to work to meet the needs that they saw. The results have been phenomenal! These women meet weekly and pray, study, and decide what outreaches in which to engage. They've even rebuilt a home! Each year the highlight is for them to gather and have a time of refreshment and teaching. This year 400 plus women attended! God is doing something amazing in their lives!!

15th Anniversary of School Campus : In 1993, the first junior high and high school was opened in Pignon, Haiti. It was the first opportunity for area residents who couldn't afford to send their kids to the city to dream of going to secondary school. Fifteen years later, we are celebrating the anniversary of the start of College de la Grace (school of Grace). In the 15 years of existence, it has been licensed by the national gov't of Haiti, identified as one of the top 10% of schools nation-wide and is a testimony of God's grace. A full 30% of the students attend on scholarship as their family's cannot afford to send them. As you look at the graduates, know that over 60% are the FIRST graduates in their families! Your support helps us to continue to subsidize the cost and keep education within reach of rural Haitian families. Our graduates are now doctors, nurses, engineers and contributing members of society. Please pray for us! (http://www.hosean.org)

Holiday Party 2008 : Finally, the holiday gifts have arrived! So has the celebration for area children in Pignon, Haiti. Two American churches, Grace Immanuel Bible Church of Jupiter, FL and Meadow Springs Community Church of Shakopee, MN had sent gifts since early December 2007. But because of the port strike and ongoing reforms going on in with the customs officials, they FINALLY were available to distribute in March, just in time for Easter weekend. So rather than Christmas holiday celebration, it became the Easter gifts instead. A hot meal and gifts were given out to over 350 children on March 22, 2008. www.hosean.org

Kid's Camp July 2007 : Each year, Hosean International staff in Haiti hopes to find friends who will help us to host area children in a youth camp. This year, a youth group from St. Mark's Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR volunteered to come help out for a week. Over 350 children ages 5-13 registered for a 5 day, 4 night camp with volunteer Haitian staff counselors. They are having a wonderful time learning and growing. Electrical Project 2007 : For the third staight year, volunteers with NRECA (National Rural Electrical Co-ops of America) have returned to Pignon, Haiti to work on the continuation of electrifying our village. This group of volunteers from Minnesota are working alongside the local electrical tech.s to hook up 300 more families and provide electricity to the community airport as well. Enjoy the images of this team in action!

Delivery & Mail Day : Have you ever wondered how on earth supplies and mail are received all the way down here? Thankfully, Missionary Flights International (www.missionaryflights.org) flies to Haiti and the Dominican Republic at least twice a week year 'round bringing mail and supplies to over 300 missions working here. These are images of going to the airport, circa January 11, 2007 when our co-worker, Kara returned to Haiti after a stateside respite. Note how they had to work getting her new vehicle off the plane. Nothing is ever easy down here . . .

Holiday Party 2006-07 : Each year, we've been blessed to be able to distribute the generous gift boxes from two churches in the U.S. One is Grace Immanuel Bible Church in Jupiter, FL, (www.gibcjupiter.org) and the other is Meadow Springs Community Church in Shakopee, MN (www.meadowonline.org). Together they sent a total of 300 boxes which we distributed on New Year's Eve. The giving of gifts or etrenne is more traditional around the New Years' holiday here in Haiti. We also cooked rice, beans, and chicken drumsticks enough to feed the entire group. It is a treat here for the kids to get meat, and for some a rare occasion. Also distributed were several boxes of donated clothing, given to the most needy. Thanks to all for their contributions and work to make this party a memorable celebration!

Food Distribution via Rotary International : Rotary International Clubs from Prior Lake, Minnesota combined forces with Feed My Starving Children via a Rotary International Grant to provide food to children in our village in the central plateau. Over 600 boxes of food were designated for schools and orphanages in the Pignon area. Recepients chosen by local Rotarians included: Ecole Jerusalem de Lapila, Ecole Evangelique Baptist de Pignon, Home of Hope (Kay Lespoua)/orphanage of Pignon and Centre Froeble de Pignon.

College de la Grace, Pignon, Haiti 2006-2007 : Images of the first secondary school in Pignon, Haiti. Started in 1993, the school now has over 900 students in grades pre-K through high school. Student are passing achievement exams at twice the national rate.

Baptism in Haiti 2006 : Annual baptism of Jerusalem Baptist Church for 27 new believers! On this dry,dusty day in north-central Haiti...the church watches to observe the very public baptism in the local river amid residents bathing, washing clothes & vehicles, & watering their livestock.

Haiti Electrical Project 2006 : Images of 2006 Minnesota Electrical linesmen trip to Pignon, Haiti to further establish the first electrical co-op. This project is being done by NRECA, the National Rural Electric Co-ops of American, in particular thier international foundation. The Pignon Co-op has received numerous gifts from all over the U.S. to provide 4 hours of electricity each evening. We are hoping to get more line up this week and allow 200 more homes to be connected.

The Caleb Lucien family lives and works in Pignon, Haiti serving with Hosean International Ministries. (http://www.hosean.org) Caleb is an educator/minister with a vision for helping the residents of Haiti develop in every way to be all Christ created them to be. Along with long and short term volunteers and full time Haitian staff, we all are working together here in the central plateau of Haiti.
